Next Board Meeting-Date of School Board Meeting: Thursday, November 20th, 2025, Time: 5:30 p.m. Place: Rim of the World Unified School District Office. 24740 San Moritz Way, Crestline, CA 92325. Page: From ROWUSD Superintendent, Dr. Paul Sevillano A Message from the Superintendent: Dear ROWUSD Families, Staff, and Community Members, At ROWUSD, we believe that every day counts. We know that attendance is a team effort that involves families, students, teachers, and the entire school community working together to support student success.  When our students show up every day, they not only build academic skills but also develop confidence, friendships, and lifelong habits of responsibility.  Consistent school attendance is the foundation of student learning.  Absenteeism can lead to lower academic outcomes and weaker engagement. Research shows that chronic absenteeism can significantly impact a student’s ability to keep up with lessons, connect with peers, and maintain motivation in school (Torres, K., Rooney, K., Gandhi, E., & Holmgren, M., 2020). The good news is that when students improve their attendance, they improve their academic prospects and their chances of graduating. Every day of school matters because every lesson, discussion, and interaction builds knowledge, confidence, and connection. We know that our families play an essential role in helping students build these positive attendance habits. You are your child’s first and most important teacher—and your involvement makes a difference. When parents and schools work together, attendance improves. Students thrive when they know the adults in their lives are on the same team, cheering them on and expecting them to show up, learn, and grow.
Research suggests effective ways we can support student attendance together, such as first, communicating regularly with your child’s teacher and school. Let us know how we can help if challenges arise. Secondly, establish consistent morning and evening routines to help students be ready for school every day. Thirdly, recognize your child’s efforts when they attend school regularly. Small celebrations build pride and motivation. Fourthly, if your child faces barriers, such as illness. transportation, or anxiety, reach out early and contact your child’s school so they can partner to find solutions. Lastly, stay engaged in school events, volunteer when possible, and stay informed through Parent Square and Facebook (McConnell, B. M., & Kubina, R. M., 2014). Your involvement helps your child see school as a community where they belong. Attendance is a shared responsibility, one that unites in the mission of helping every child succeed. Together, we can build a culture where attendance is valued, supported, and celebrated. Every day your child is in school, they are learning, growing, and taking another step toward their future.
Every day matters-and together, we make every day count!
Page: Parent Voices Matter! Come & Join Our Combined  Superintendent-Parent Advisory Committee & LCAP Educational Partners Meeting. Page: Stop for school Buses! KNOW the LAW! It is “illegal” in every state to pass a stopped school bus that is loading or unloading students — this applies in both directions of travel. Know the law: All drivers must follow traffic laws related to school bus safety. Let’s understand the flashing light system used by
school bus drivers to alert motorists: Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop to pick up or drop off children. Slow down and prepare to stop.
Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm indicate that the bus is stopped, and children are getting on or off.
You must STOP your vehicle until the lights stop flashing and the stop arm is retracted.  (This law applies to both directions of traffic) Let’s all do our part to keep
our students safe!
